Goetheanum

The Goetheanum is a center of a worldwide network of spiritually engaged people. It is the seat of the School of Spiritual Science  and the General Anthroposophical Society, which serves as a place of exchange for those with spiritual questions, and a place for trainings in scientific and artistic fields.

Events range from lectures on special themes, to large, international conferences, to performances by  ensembles and guest performances in Eurythmy, theater, puppetry and music.

Situated in the Jura landscape, 10 Kilometers South of Basel, the Goetheanum sits grand on the Dornach hill, with its expressive architecture and picturesque garden park, café, bookstore and gift shop.

What do you need courage for?

To me talking about courage invites us to look at how we acquire it. And in that sense, we can notice that there are two big categories: a courage someone is born with: “courage in the blood” and another courage someone acquire depending on situations: ” courage on demand” That been said, we can notice that the second category of courage is probably more vulgar nowadays. Why do I think it is vulgar? Because, we live in a world full of predators and many of us aren’t born with “courage in the blood”, so we need the second category of courage: “courage on demand”. So, to escape the predators, we have to be courageous. And when we are not born with “courage in the blood” and we are face to face with a predator and we want to stay alive, we have to throw away our fear and develop the “courage on demand”. The predators I have raised above might be the difficulties we encounter every day in our life, the challenges at school, the challenges at home, the risk migrants take to cross the ocean, the freedom, and whatever ask for extra efforts or extraordinary efforts from us. So, whether it’s ” courage in the blood” or “courage on demand”, courage to me means going beyond the expectations and making the extra or extraordinary efforts. We need courage in everything we do in our life. Without courage, nothing could be done and especially when we feel down. We need courage to be alive.
